i was just looking at your gear.

50mm 1.5/ 55-200mm/ 18-55 mm kit lens/ 439ex flash

my advice is no, and there are alot of topics about that. why not get some glass first that will give you some really good results.

i used to have the XT , and i sold it to upgrade to the 40D , honestly i prefer being without body than actually owning a 40D.

why not get a 24 70 L. or any other piece of good glass that will handle you very good results

SilverOnemo is flaming the 40D in another thread. without owning one. I have the 5D and 40D both and I am of the opinion that he has no clue what he is talking about. It's a very good upgrade for you. You will enjoy the camera and get a lot of great shots while he is still picking gear apart.

Any new model is just and improvement over any earlier model. That does not make the 40D a Rebel MkVI though does it?
I'm saying you are just voicing opinions, and you are welcome to do that. I'll just take it for what it's worth.

The 40D has almost nothing in common with the 30D but the brand name and the lens mount, for pity's sake - it's as different as it possibly could be from the 30D.

yes you are right... but not that diferent.

what i mean is , i was expecting more than it is now.

if you've got no camera to use .. then 40D all the way.

but for now i'll keep using my buddies 5D.
