Captured these 3 amigos while I was wandering around the Bond Swamp refuge here in middle Georgia. I still didn't really nail the eyes by any means, but I think I'm getting closer.
If that stupid stick hadn't been in the way.

Lots and lots of butterflies down there, but they just won't stay still for long.
C&C would be much appreciated. I know they are not great by any means.

There's a sceond critter to the left in the second pic. All you can see is the legs. I think it's what we call a Grand daddy long legs around here, but all you can see is his legs.

Nice shots Scott. Took me a while to spot the butterfly in the second pic what with it blending so well into the background. Last one is my favourite.

Thanks alliec. That stick kind of messed up the first shot. The one in the third shot did pose for a while.

Shot 1 is, as you suggested isn't going to win prizes because of the stick in the way, and also it's placement is rather too central to be aesthetically pleasing. The latter can be fixed because you have a bit of leeway for cropping. Pare a bit off the top and the left. Notwithstanding the twig, if I'd captured such a beautiful butterfly any which way, I'd still be pleased as punch at getting it.
Shot 2 is intriguing, and it sort of works simply because if you'd put the camoulflaged butterfly near the middle it'd be easy to spot. Incidently, it looks rather like the European brimstone butterfly.
Shot 3 is good. I'd be happy with that one. Nicely placed and with a bit of the habitat.

Thanks eccles, really appreciate the advice. Number one just sat there for a few minutes. I shot him maybe six times. I then decided to get out of the car and try for a better shot. That was the last I seen of him.

Number two I was focusing on the little flowers and he landed just as I took the shot. Got lucky on that one.

Number three also posed for awile just outside of my car.

There were thousands of butterfly out but they seems to want to fly just ahead of my car.

Actually I got a shot of the green one in flight but it was oof. Another one had flown up and he flew up to meet him.

Is there a certain time of day when these guys calm down a bit? Everytime I go looking, they are flitting about and won't stay put for more than a second or so.
