Was thinking of the Canon 17-40L, found a fantastic deal on eBay.

Any suggestions? My lens + body is in my sig. I have a prime (portraits), zoom (various uses, wildlife maybe, outdoors sports..?), a kit lens but looking to replace it (17-40L?), don't really have a macro. The Raynox isn't very useful to be honest.

Yeah, looking for suggestions.

Budget? Under $600...

Beware of "fantastic deals on ebay" although there's lots of good sellers too. 17-40L is a great lens and will repolace your kit lens.

Better suggestion may be the 17-55 f2.8IS unless you plan to upgrade your camera to FF soon. May be slightly more expensive but it has IS and is a stop faster and has a longer reach.

I agree with the advice on eBay. If it's too good to be true, it probably is.

That being said, I love my 17-40. It's a great lens.

I'd also suggest the 17-55mm f/2.8 IS... Unless you're going FF, the 17-40mm L doesn't make sense with all these new great lenses in this range for crops only. They're lighter, mostly faster, and offer more range for similar money. The L is a fantastic lens, but more because of what it does on a FF body.

24-70

Sharp and fast and can be used on any Canon body.
