IMAGE NOT FOUND
HTTP response: NOT FOUND | MIME changed to 'image/png'


I saw this snake crossing the road. Any idea what kind of snake this is? I looked up common snakes found in Maryland, but this didn't seem to be on the list. As you can see the body is a grayish color with burgundy stripes that don't quite reach the dorsal region. Roughly 3 ft. in length.

After doing some more searching I guess it's a water snake. Makes sense since there are bodies of water near where I ran into it.

it sort of looks like a red banded water snake from Florida - but not exactly -

Believe it or not I made those borders from eyedropper tool samples from the image itself. The first border was a sample of the snakes grey color and burgundy stripe, while the brighter red and dark tan color samples are from different parts of the snake as well. ;)
