ISO 3200 on a 20d, one pass through NN. Converted from RAW. I am liking the shots from the 40d a lot. Looking so good I stuck an order in today and put off a 1d Mk3 indefinitely.

I am evaluating what to buy next, and this is helping my decision. BobAtkins had posted 1600 and 3200 ISO comparison shots of the 40D and 30D, and they looked near identical. These look a bit better than my 20D can do at 3200...about the same at 1600... so I'm impressed. One question for you... in your second picture, you have a 100% crop number 1, and a 100% crop number too. The girls head is not the same size in these two images, so how can they both be a 100% crop? Which one is really 100% (meaning its cropped so its showing the captured pixels... not reduced)? Sorry, to confuse, your completely right though..... the 1st of the 2 crops @ iso3200 is a 100% crop although it is not the full size image as it did not fit the forum constarints of 800 pixels on the long side, so infact '100% crop #2' is the full size, 100% crop. Current gear: EOS 7D w/ BG-E7

Does everyone agree on that? I'm wondering b/c I'm shooting a lot of indoors and consider an upgrade. Would someone be so kind to drop a quick answer to the above question -- please??? High ISO is indirectly correlated to low light photography...TY Cameras: Canon D30 (w/ BG-ED3), Sony T-5, Canon 20D (w/ BG-E2)

Take a look at my earlier posting on this thread where you can link to my 30D vs 40D images and you can see the noise is the same as the 30D at 1600. I agree, 100% crops are VITAL in threads such as these, for a resized image that looks quite noisy actually.
