I know, it's such a shame that we have to spend so much time and energy looking out for our stuff... but, what are you going to do:rolleyes:? Yeah, very said. I don't know how far I'll go with this myself, the but the thread has given me REAL food for thought about some of my more important images.

I would think in his case he should have worried, then to say he never got the money he was awarded..wow, that is sad.

I may have one or two images, esp if one got published or something but then maybe that alone would be credit to prove it was yours.

We've become such a legal nation,

It's kinda awesome that the original photographer of the lawsuit chimed in..that was great. I am keeping that thread just to go over and going to look at the copyright stuff. You never know.

That was pretty good - you don't see stuff like that very often.

Regarding the quantity of images on the CD - the suggestion they made was to use medium resolution (JPG) so you can really pack the stuff in if you're looking to "protect" quantity. I'd probably use a DVD as that's all I buy anymore due to the greater capacity.

I still use DVD, but I don't try to pack it full like he did, lol.

Although for some reason, the files coming out of the 40D, on the same setting as the XTI are alot larger...I've yet to figure that out, I've not really tried, I put it on the same setting,so I have no idea.

Gee, I lost track of your equipment - I didn't realize you'd gotten a 40D. Good for you :D - when did that happen? It's quite a change from your XTI.

Regarding your file sizes, and I'm not up on all the camera specs - the 40D generates a larger RAW file size than the XTI, so the resulting JPGs will be larger even if you use the "same" settings, right?

This is what I think is happening, I've checked the files and they are bigger, but the settings are the same. I LOVE it, and I bought my first piece of glass too, but I feel like I'm back on block A, but that is ok...

I've had it maybe about a month now. I've done a partial wedding that is about it. Tomorrow I will just the L lens and the 40d the whole time, I have been inspired by some awesome shots I've seen, I just hope I do some justice to them.

Someone just shared this with me, it looks pretty interesting, they have classes for CS2 and 3, only 55 dollars...

Tons of other things too, This winter I may take a class or two to help myself out..esp with layers...I need to learn more on that.

probably because the files are now storing 14 bits per pixel rather than 12?

That may be it...but it's a big difference when uploading and stuff...and saving as is..wow.

they may have also changed their compression algorithms...

I found the default jpeg settings on the mark III to be huge. But luckily, you can adjust the quality in 10 steps. I dropped it down to 6/10 and the file sizes are back down to what I'm used to, and still look fantastic.

I think, on the jpeg side at least, they went for less compression. Because jpegs are always 8bits, no matter if the camera is 12 or 14.

This cleaning stuff is hard work! And I've only done half the house! Stupid moderately-sized bungalow ...
