Or, she's struggling for breath, anyway. I'm still not all that familiar with this area, having recently moved here, but I saw a "Pet Hospital" sign a couple miles south during the move. I took her there. Them: "Can I help you?" Me: (Pointing down to Ashley) "She can't breathe." Them: "Is this an emergency?" Me: (Wanting to rip the idiot's throat out for asking such an assinine question) "Yes" Them: "We charge $80 for the initial exam. Can you pay that much?" Me: "Of course." Them: "Good. Come back here in three hours and the doctor will see you." No... I'll never go back to that pet hospital again. My dog is gasping for breath and you casually tell me to come back in three hours? Yeah, right! Ashley seems to be doing a bit better now, though. She's sleeping. But, I'm seriously concerned. No, I'm scared. This is the second time it's happened since we've moved. The first was about three weeks ago. I'm worried it might have something to do with her heart. She was diagnosed with an enlarged heart almost exactly two years ago... I'm Googling for other pet hospitals and vets in this area... That's terrible Lonnie....I hope Ashley gets better. Something to do with an enlarged heart is scary...hopefully its just something simpler like something stuck in her throat that she has been having trouble taking out. I recently went through that with Joshua. I had given him a jerky treat one evening...he began to breath labored with some wheezing...but would still be playing around with Dora. Early the next morning...Joshua was still at it so I decided to take him to the vet. We go outside to the truck, he takes off into the grass and hacks up the jerky treat...a fairly large chunk mind you...that he did not fully chew. I was relieved, but I can't imagine the discomfort he was going through and I am sure that Ashley is going through now. Robert | Gear |

I hope you find another pet hospital. I've never had one treat us like that, especially during an emergency!! I hope it's something simple (our cat was having breathing trouble recently...it turned out to be asthma) and she'll be fine soon!!! misspix wrote in post #4107225 OMG Lonnie!!! I am directing all healing air to Ashley. I hope you find a more reasonable vet. Thanks. She seems to be ok right now. She's sleeping, so I don't really want to wake her up, but I'll be watching her very closely! I found another pet hospital that's even closer, with a Google search. I'll take her there if she starts gasping again. Meanwhile, I'll go back to searching for a vet I can take her to tomorrow morning for a checkup, if I don't have to rush her to the E.R. today... My name is Lonnie, but I answer to Thomas too.

But, she was panting and breathing through her mouth, so I doubt that was the whole problem.Could be allergies to the different area you now live in....the air I mean. Robert | Gear |
