I am SO glad that you were with her, Lonnie, and that you didn't meet up with us today.
That occurred to me, too. I'm so glad (?) it happened when she was with me, rather than while she was with her babysitter or a kennel.

It's always hard when they go over the Rainbow Bridge. Author unknown... wrote: Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... Jon

I should probably scatter them on the summit of White Mountain Peak. I think that's a great idea Lonnie. Beth

I agree...that was very good that you were with her Lonnie. thomascanty wrote in post #4108464 I just got back from the pet hospital (no, not that one!!!). I paid the $75 for a special cremation and to have Ashley's ashes returned to me. I've had dozens of pets in my life, but I've never done this before. But, Ashley was special, dammit! I don't know what I'm going to do with her ashes just yet. I should probably scatter them on the summit of White Mountain Peak. She was one of the very few dogs to ever see the summit of that 14,246' mountain. Heck, most PEOPLE haven't been up there) My cats are acting strange. The cats and Ashley always just ignored each other, but obviously they know something is wrong... That is a good idea Lonnie; to have Ashley cremated...and taken to be scattered about in a special location which you have fond memories of her. Robert | Gear |

He is sitting in a special place right now. Someday soon I will be taking them to where my dad's ashes are spread and will put his ashes there. It's a truly beautiful place.

MaureenSouza Ms. MODERATOR Something Spectacular! More info | Lonnie, my heart is so sad. I have had the pleasure of Ashley's company a couple of times in the past 1 1/2 years and she was a wonderful dog. Here is a big hug from me and a photo I took of your little sweetie just a few weeks ago. Life is hard...but I just take it one photograph at a time.
