Whoa...nice shots Timbernet. The web is awesome. I saw some field sprinklers like that one over the seekend that I wanted to take pictures of, but at the time of day I was near them and the angle from the road...it just did not appeal to me...the light was not right for them. You on the otherhand got it right ;)

How's this?

QUOTED IMAGE

Gorgeous shot Pete. My only (very slight) niggle is the clipped gull on the right hand side.

Kvack all!

Someone needs to help me with a little bit of explaining..

I just priced a new iMac I have my eye on, for deployment around Dec-Jan. Apple literally wants a THOUSAND BUCKS for 4GB of RAM. That's pretty frightening. I can hand-build an entire PC for less than that. Or get a whole Mac Mini with 2GB of RAM and all the nice stuff included. What's going on?

So I thought of another plan, use my Mini instead. It can't do dual monitors so I will need to smack the biggest honkin' display I can get on it (no 30", sorry, that requires dual DVI outputs which again the Mini can't do). I price up an Apple Cinema display, and again find it is TWICE the cost of every other monitor out there of equivalent size.

What's with the funky pricing? I know Mac is good stuff (I LIKE it!) but something tells me I am seriously getting taken for a wild ride with the hardware!

I'm willing to pay but it HAS to be justified. So far I can't find any product literature which even hints at what's better about these things. Maybe if Apple had some new super sophisticated laser rendering system with a color gamut that blows the socks off everything else I could consider the monitor, but if it's just a monitor in a nice aluminium frame, this is seriously going to put a ding in my 300 f/2.8 ISL budget.

There isn't one... Sorry. They charge a premium because there is simply less demand for the product and because it is apple, there is not a huge amount of competition for their APPLE product, thus they can basically set the price they want.:(

Sorry David - I am still a LR noob :-(

Yeah, well, I'm not feeling like much of an expert at the moment, either. . .

Zilly wrote in post #3999087 (external link)
is there a cache you can empty ???

part from that there is no reason why it shouldnt work

I'm going to try removing the pics from the catalog, asking LR to "rebuild" the catalog (which I hope will do something for the cache), and then reimporting.

LR is hating me right now - I am rebuilding my library :-) Importing 10gigs of photos :-D

10 gigs -- pshaw. The wedding was 6. I know you shoot more than that.

Very cool shots, Scott. Love the second. I tend to see things that would look great with different lighting, but never get to go back for that lighting. You hit it!
