I suspect it'll be all right. VMWare isn't a newcomer to this business.. I'm pretty sure they designed it securely. Only specific things should be allowed 'out' of the VM environment.. I'm sure they took care of that.

There is a remote risk of getting windows viruses when you run windows and drag files.

This is free and you can keep an eye on things with it...

Dang.... I had to make it to class or I would have taken this shot:

Sunrise
Mount Hood in a light pink tint (sun was behind it)
Grassy field with fog
Hot air balloon
Light clouds in pink color...

OH MAN!!! Curse this school!!

Conversely, if you weren't going to school, you would still be in bed and you never would have seen that sight and thought about the need to capture an image of it. Drat....better leave a few minutes early the next few mornings...just in case the need arises again!;)

Speaking of school...what's up with the PPCH? Has she expressed any further interest in playing with your camera?

Newsflash: okay, I think I'm over my "I'm thinking of switching back to the 5D". I gave everything a long hard look....including the reasons why I switched in the first place....looked over my shots from both cameras and am not going back. There are so many pluses to both, but I do love only having to haul one camera. And the IQ is so similar...anyway, just a little glimpse into the old brain. :)

boy is it slow in here today or what??

I'm feeling so much better today, I want to go play...I haven't done bird shooting in ages. Maybe I can talk Puddle into a nature walk later.

Ohh you have been thinking about switching back to 5D ?

I couldn't go back to only 5D. In africa I used my MKIII maybe 90-95% of the time. In the first few days I had both out and ready but soon the 5D simply stayed in the bag.

really? That's very interesting!

Yeah, I was thinking about it. I got frustrated with some focus issues and frustrated with all the pp I'm doing...it feels like I did WAY less with the 5D and it made me take a hard look at whether or not I wanted to go back. I decided against it though. Mostly because the AF issues were confined to a specific set of shots (could have been electrical interference) and as for the pp...well, I'll just have to deal with it. I miss the FF too...but I love the crop for animals and such. I guess it'd be nice to own a FF and a crop but that's not in the budget.

Moooooooo.

I'm trying to straighten my office. I went into a drawer I rarely use, and found about a dozen CF cards. One of them was 256 megs, and one was 128 megs. I won't tell you what the other ones were, but only two of them would have held a single RAW image from my 1Ds MK II.

How things have changed in the last few years.

Needless to say, they will soon be landfill.

Know anyone with a P&S that takes cf? I pass my small ones on to the kids. they hold lots of pics for them and one less thing in a landfill.. Or you could advertise em on freecycle.

My 5D mainly stayed in the bag because I really am not that much into landscape which it is great for. And most of the time in the trucks the animals where some distance away that required longer than 105 mm (When I had my5D out it was with 24-105 on).

yeah I can see that. (those two are a great combo...that or the 85...loved them together)
I was wondering why we don't see any gaps landscapes. Was nobody really interested in shooting them?

I think the reason is we spent most of the time inside the trucks except in one park you are not allowed to leave them so it was difficult to really shoot landscape. But I am sure someone got some great landscapes. I got a few but not anything special. I don't have an eye for spotting the great landscape compositions.

btw I also had my 85 f/1.8 with me and only used it for one shot :-(
