It wouldn't AF on my 20D either - at 50mm wide-open... I think there is something wrong with the lens. Mind you, it was sunset when I tried the 20D + Bigma - but still, it should have at least tried to hunt.

Might be. I shot mine on a 350D and 5D and they AF'ed perfectly throughout the entire zoom range.

Becca had no problems with focus on her 350D or 300D. So you probably have a defect lens. I have never heard it would not focus on 20D.

heh, actually TD has the lens - Lisa wanted to try it on her MarkIII, and when that didn't work I tried it on the 40D and 20D. Pretty wide range of cameras for it not to AF on.

So what do I need for a Wimberly Sidekick setup?

Obviously the Sidekick, but them it looks like I need a ballhead with a Arca style mount - what are the options there?

I am thinking about getting that setup now, so I don't have to buy it when I get a 500mm f/4

Scott, this is what I bought. In retrospect, the ballhead is a little overkill. You could get one a little smaller, IMHO.

Well, being a meany head, I thought I would just throw that little tidbit out there.

Processing photos from yesterday. Some turned out great. Others, well, not so much. Gotta get out there again when the sun's shining.
