Chris I do like your shots, always fun, and plenty of colour - my only critique, I always seem to find them oversharpened, with some halo, such as tiger whiskers.. What are your USM settings? I'm at 200 .2 0 myself

Thanks for you comments Warren. USM settings are 100 / .8 / 2 (tweaked when needed) Thats after resizing to 800 max size.

What i am finding Warren is that when i export from lightroom to jpg i get the halos and a bad compression. I have tried playing with the settings but it seem to happen even when i apply no usm to a photo.. - i am reading up and trying to find a better way of exporting or even tweaking the settings to sort out the over sharpened look. I am reading a couple of books on lightroom to aid with my PP work flow. I will get it right one day.
A new lcd may help too as the one at home is dog...

I will however try your photoshop settings and see what they can do for me.

No worries Chris, didn't mean to jump at you either  I was going to suggest possibly could be some compression issues also.

I sometimes do it twice 200 .2 0, and then CTRL SHIFT F and fade out to a desired effect.. (Use this function on MANY actions)
So one photo could have 1x USM, whereas another could have 1.25 (2x and second one, fade back to 25%)

your comments were / and are more than welcome and i did not think you were jumping at me. it was good and honest advice.
The halos have been bothering me a lot too. right off to work now ..

cheers

;)

Of course not! No way they'd plan to have a A310 with 144 foot wing span, just 10 feet off the ground! Imagine 5-10 more degrees on the bank, would have collected the ground.

In NZ it's a bit safer, ;)

Mostly, me agreeing you've got some great photos, and could only be slightly improved in the final PP stage :)

Oh yeah, my bad.

Frame rate and autofocus have been awesome for sport - massive increase in my keepers, so here's a keeper:

Ah, I know this park. Didn't know they played soccer down there too. I had a Bay Of Plenty cricket match there last summer, I loved the backdrop with the mountain in the distance. Nice place.

Duncan put your camera back to focus default where focus is off the shutter button and see if that helps. Something is not right.
Focus is changing when you recompose
