5 fully charged BP511s & a doz. 2700mah AAs for the flash or for my BGE2 battery adapter which uses 6 AAs for the camera. It may be overkill but -- no batteries = no pics.

I got 4 BP511s and only 4 sets of batterys for the flash.

but your right. it's a shame we can't take photos with out batteries these days.

western springs gkpe mini monday 22nd
(i will answer for kirst since she is out of town today)

meet 12pm at the zoo for anyone who is interested, then at 2pm near the playground at western springs for a relaxing wander around the lake and a shoot (i am bringing a nikon shooter with me (be nice) who has asked me to help her learn to use her camera - lol so i first have to learn how to use it in the 10 seconds before i show her :p)

SS, the best way for her to learn is to dump the Noink and go Canon:p

Seriously, though, I hope she sticks around longer than Spoodli (or whatever he calls himself) -- I think some of the ribbing got to him... though I don't think there was that much going around that night. One other thought could have been he thought we were a bunch of geeks and didn't want to hang around any longer:p

i dunno, im quite happy to use batteries now that they are rechargeable: i had an EOS 500 which took 2xlithium ion batteries, which cost $28-$32 a set and lasted for approximately 6-8 films (depending on how much on-camera flash was used) and then became little logs of useless e-waste, and the camera reverted to a pointless lump of electronica until i could get new batteries. certainly put the cost of photography up.

also i would never want to do without all the features my modern camera has that are made possible by batteries - autofocus, autoexposure, free photos forever (ccd)... not to mention chimping ;)

never mind about the daytime tripod stigma - i am aware that a number of professional landscape photographers will never click the shutter unless their cameras are solidly mounted on the heaviest tripod they can find - day or night

you just shoot however you feel comfortable and pay no attention to what anyone thinks of what you look like

I wonder at half the price if it's half as good as the canon... ?

So what does that make me for not always using a tripod for my landscapes?
