I just suspect that if you had both the 24-105 and the 17-55 one of them won't get used very much.

Agree... I now rarely use my Sigma 24-70 and it is either the 17-40 or the 70-200 on it. I am actually thinking of selling my 24-70 and get a Spyder or Huey Pro -- I know I will be using that more often than the lens...

Hey, if you want gear, go and buy it. I have no problem with people spending their money on whatever takes their fancy. I just suspect that if you had both the 24-105 and the 17-55 one of them won't get used very much.

hmmmmmmmmmmmm....

dammit now i don't know what to do LOL
maybe i should aim for the 70-200... but thats like double the cost of the 24-105... arrrgh LOL

ok so do ppl think that the 85 1.8 would be a better choice and then buying 70-200 later?
or should i get 24-105 now, 70-200 later, and maybe 85?

assuming i can afford any of these LOL

My wish list is fairly lengthy, but in reality, I don't need any of it. I can make do with what I have just fine. I know my equipments limitations, but it doesn't stop me taking some nice photos. That said of course, if my finances allowed, I'd need a larger camera bag.

i discover what i still need to get, because i go to put my hands on a certain focal length/speed combo and then i remember i dont have it - which means i cant get some of the shots that i have planned - on a day out for fun thats no big deal but during a paid shoot its frustrating

Yep, understand you're point, if you're getting paid to do it then you wouldn't want to miss shots due to equipment limitations!

I wonder what the prices for the new 200mm f2 is and 800mm f5.6 are going to be. THATS A HOLE LOTTA GLASS

The 600 F4 is better value for Dollar than the 800mm F5.6

SS read somelens review sites. Why is it when a woman has more than 1 choice :)

I looked at your mai gears. You have a huge wish list :) Santa Clause is going to have to visit that Canon Factory :p

I received an email about that remote i brought. He sent it today at 4pm from Nelson. So ill have it sometime this week. It is time for some action~~ woot woot. I want to try and experiment. It involves a lot of ninja and some sneaky peaky. Teh birds are in the tree's ive heard. Why not put teh tripod and 70-200mm on some bait and snappy snappy away at a secret hiding spot. MUAHAHAH!

If you can wait, get the 70-200. If you can't 24-105. If you really like a good single or two person portrait prime lens then the 85.

Also have a look at fredmiranda.com -- the reviews are from actual users, and not just a bunch of editors who may or may not have any biases toward certain brands.
