Oh, if one local has been thinking of using Harvey Norman for Prints.

Don't bother.

I have 3 bad experiences in a row there now, going to have to find another shop to get prints done, or go back to ordering on line.
HN have changed the way their system works, to make it more friendly to compact camera users, and people who just want to print all their holiday snap shots.
Even the manager admitted this makes it a pain in the butt for anyone more serious about their photography, but they make the bulk of their sales on snap shots from peoples little compacts.

Call the courier and put in a claim.
Allow 6-8 weeks and lots of letter writing for it go through.

If your lucky the printer might be prepared to send you a new canvas, and do the claim themselves.

Unless you signed for it, with out noting the damage.
Then you just became a whale on the end of a Japanese harpoon.

Hey GKPE

Read the pages of madness. John. You crack me up. haha 300mm between Tony's legs. That is very interesting how you guys say it doesnt really feel any different. But what Tony said about build quality i guess i know what you mean.

And John me buying a 40D! bahaha yeah right. Im actually very happy with what i got. Lance, you're text art is cool :p

When i was doing my telephone market research interviews today i had 3 30 year old single women. And they all sounded flirtatious. Why is that? are 30year olds super duper keen or something...

Edit:
Also what is up with the trademe site. Does it look different to you guys. Like everything is pushed to the left. I cant quite put my finger on it.

Gidday Matt, as women get older, they get more self confidence in my experience. Also at 30, their sexual peak is looming, unlike the guys' one that apparently happens at 18.

And trademe looks fine to me.

I've never used them. Always thought they were crap.
I use Camera house. I paid $10 to be a Gold Member and I get discounts on prints... the cheapest i've found so far and their quality is excellent.

6x4 prints are 39c (although currently if you order more than 200 they're 19c), and enlargements are significantly cheaper as well.... Its kiosk ordering as well though, but its excellent quality and very easy to use :)

I was using Frogprints for a while till their colours starting getting stuffed up and now I'll never use them again. I use Digital Max for poster and large format prints.

A bunch of Canon bits and pieces.

I did a test here in the Bay, I took the same image to all of the kiosk places and also the real print shops and asked for an 8x12 matts without any in house adjustment.
I was blown away by the actual difference in colour casts and quality from them all.
A whole bunch came back with a green shift in colour, one came back too warm (orange shift) and on 2 of 11 came back acceptable to what I'm seeing on my monitor.
The one that came back best was Super Print here in Tauranga. The printers are run by people that won gold awards in the NZIPP 2007 competitions.......surprise surprise :)

The best part is they took me for a professional and gave me the pro prices which ended up a similar price to most (not all) kiosk places.

So now my monitor is properly calibrated to their machines.......
Good times.

That has been my experience lately too. I went to print a shot I had cropped, checked the "this is how your print will look when printed" page, and it was how I wanted it. But then it printed with the sides cut off. It was a big deal to get it reprinted as I wanted it, and as the machine told me it was going to print it. Their system is designed for the lowest common denominator.
