ute = utility (vehicle in background)

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

JJ,

That's a good start. Diana happy?

What SS said. There also is some image blur (on her face) probably from using the slow shutter speed and shooting at 200mm. Was your IS on? Colour is a little washed our but can be bumped up by saturating slightly (unless my monitor needs calbrating.)

Adjusted saturation, USMed, slight levels adjutment. I would also crop it tighter like this:

[IMG]http://i48.photobucket.com …orner/untitled.jpg[/iIMG] (external link)

Thanks John for the comments. I was using M mode maybe I should use TV (at a shutter of 1/320 or even lower) mode for shooting sports.. IS was on.. Yes, the colour is washed out maybe because the day was quite dark. The cropping looks better, what levels did you adjust? Is it straightening? Out of curiosity what is USMed.. I think I should try and use photoshop, I am currently using Aperture and I find Aperture quite good and am happy with it.

Regards,

Hey everyone. I may have already mentioned this to you but I really need some hints. I'm heading overseas for a month in January and will be taking my camera with me. I cant take my laptop (too expensive for my insurance) so I need a portable HD. I've heard there are HD's that dont have a proper screen, and do have a CF card slot so you can directly upload the photos from card ==> storage device. Does anyone know a make/model for this type of HD? I have tried asking in stores but havent been sucessful yet, most of the places didn't have a lot of stock/ clue on what I was talking about.

Portable storage is a pretty niche market so you don't see alot of them in N.Z. - flashcards are one of the few that do but check out other sources also.
for a range of portable storage devices from an Ausy site, have a look at : http://www.jaldigital.com.au …e64a70ac30f70e747643b21e0 (external link)

...

Isn't that strange - USM = unsharp mask. Not to be confused with Canon's USM which is Ultrasonic Motor ;)

Speaking of fuzzy ....

Managed to rattle off a couple of shots of some fireworks happening over Hagley park that I knew nothing about

One that I thought was the best was pretty rubbish but I had no time to set up properly, tripod was in the car, rested camera on the balcony railing, self timer, full manual, manual focus, 5 sec exposure f8 ISO 50 (!), cropped and pp'd in picasa (Vista is too unstable to actually install anything important on). Setup time was < 30 sec. Enjoy.

yeah bugger i missed it. Went out to buy beers with the boys and saw it. I was like. Hey guys look at the sky. There like uhhhh... haha. Its what happens when you dont have mates without a mind like mine. The lighting was perfect. Gosh it would have been nice to capture today at sunset!

The sky. everything. Warm lighting. Could have done some amazing panos. Arg!

texted Daniel. He said it was drizzling where he was :p ah well.
