...in picasa (Vista is too unstable to actually install anything important on).

wow, this "viss-tah" sounds fantastic, i cant wait til i can afford a much more expensive hi-spec computer than the one i already have which works perfectly well, so that i can actually have the honour of removing xp which has never given me a moment's trouble and putting THAT little doozy on it! :D

what a crock... microsoft - 0, apple - 1
:-(

the OS is meant to be the 'invisible' framework which supports and complements the running of the actual PROGRAMS which are why ppl have computers anyway, isnt it? theyve lost sight of that and made it the end-game which ultimately isnt terribly helpful... i had to spend about 3 hours the other day explaining to my electronics engineer dad why his new vista machine was about 10% useful compared to his old xp one and why most of his custom software wasnt functioning any more

Well, in all fairness, it's not unstable as such, just horribly incompatible with a nasty party trick up its sleeve.

I use it for general day to day media (watching and listening) and surfing as I find it's actually far quicker and less prone to slowing down to a crawl if you have several things going.

For beginners? No. I had to manually install (and set up) my modem (woosh wireless), my sound (onboard ad1888 intel chip(!)).

Its party trick is this ; if you install a bit of software that it's incompatible with (and there are a few of them) - when you reboot, it hangs. No splash screen, no safe mode, nothing. It's reinstall time. Talk about frustrating.

Its other party trick is, it also does this at random. Oh yay.

The other reason I run it, is to basically use my machine as a guineapig - so I can alert others of the pratfalls, and the cool bits.

I have dual boot setup so I can fall back to XP when it breaks.

And yes, if I could get the ^$@$#!! modem to work under linux I'd so be using that (KDE4.0 looks great).

Funny you should mention Apple, apparently there are quite a few issues with people upgrading to Leopard. Ah well, never mind.

Ah, computers. Got to love them. When they behave.

Anyway, good snapping folks, looks like a reasonable day to be doing it.

Out at the drags yesterday.
If only this one was a bit sharper...
The CA's at F2.8 + cheap ND4 are a bit annoying.

That's cool. I like how you see the walls of the tyre folding. At this resolution it's fine!

I had a go at some paragliding shots, while out getting some exercise.
