During the day, it wasn't bad; in the high 60's 70's, but as it got late, the wind and the fog kicked in and it was chilli. Typical SF weather. :D

Great work!

Thanks Brad,

It was fun and I do wish I live in Southern Cal so I can shoot this every weekend on the real beach instead of trucked in sand. :)

I still envy you. AVP used to come out to Muskegon, MI - but stopped coming out here once Armato took over. :(

Could you please post the settings lens etc.. that you used to capture these pictures. I just bought a Canon 40D, and I shoot beach volleyball, and this is the exact effect I am looking for.

All current photos were shot with a Canon S3IS

Sorry I saw the post late.

These were shot with the 1DMKII and the 70-200 2.8 in AI Servo and Burst mode. I shot mostly in Manual mode. I just metered in AV to get a general settings and dial in the value in M. The aperture was about 3.2 or 3.5 and I dial the shutter up and down depends on where the sun was. I normally keep the aperture on the wide side to help with background blur.

The Exif is embedded in the pics so if you have Opanda installed you can right click and check out the settings.
