(but it still may be faster than the 20d's) ... the 20d would do 1/320 with good batteries in everything

Sync speed's determined by the fastest shutter speed at which the entire frame's completely uncovered. Any faster speeds and the second shutter curtain will start moving before the first one has completed its travel. And you need to allow for response time in everything that's between the shutter and the strobe. Jon
