....so... with a first curtain electronic shutter I wonder if it'll be possible using pocketwizards and such to get above 1/250th of a second hmm...

I'll try that tonight.. I've been meaning to, but now I have a reason to test the sync speed :)

on second thought.. it shouldn't matter.. the first curtain is electronic, the second is mechanical... (but it still may be faster than the 20d's) ... the 20d would do 1/320 with good batteries in everything

Not reliably. Sync speed's determined by the fastest shutter speed at which the entire frame's completely uncovered. Any faster speeds and the second shutter curtain will start moving before the first one has completed its travel. And you need to allow for response time in everything that's between the shutter and the strobe.

PW's limit you to 1/160th anyway.

(edit) sorry...that's only true for older PW's. I just looked at my Plus II manual and that is one of the upgrades they made.
(edit...again) nevermind me. I'm thinking of my 5D and what I have to set the sync speed to get it to work with my PW's. sheesh. So yeah, faster sync in the camera end would be nice!
