I'm trying to use mirror lockup with my wireless remote (RC-1). However, I'm not sure whether it's working or not. From what I understand, if you set mirror lockup on, the first shutter button press locks up the mirror. The next shutter button press takes the photo and restores the mirror's position.

However, when I use my wireless remote (and set it on timer/remote mode) it doesn't seem to need this second shutter button press. Instead, it takes the picture, what seems like, right away.

I'm hoping what is really happening is that it is locking up the mirror, pausing for the briefest of moments and then taking the picture, but that's probably not the case. Does anyone know? And if it isn't locking up the mirror like it should, is there any way to lock up the mirror and still use the wireless remote to activate the shutter release?

You have to set the remote to 2 second delay to use MLU with the RC-1.
