Anyone ever get confused on the user interface between the 5D & a 40D? I'm thinking of getting the 40D as a back up to the 5D. But I don't want to stumble w/ the 40D's interface while switching back & forth w/ the 5D. Thoughts?

It's really not that bad. It's more intuitive if you're coming from a 10/20/30 or 5D, which all pretty much have the same layout. The menu screen may take getting used to if you've never used a 1 series, but I'm sure you'll catch on quick and be able to easily bounce from one camera to another without having issues. The only way to get proficient at anything is to get out there and just do it. ;)

I just added the 40D to the 5D and though the menus are different, it's easy to adjust to.

Practice makes perfect.. so you shouldn't be intimidated by a slight learning curve. My current combo is a 30D and 400D, and THAT is certainly alot different compared to a 5D/40D combo.

I still don't understand why Canon rearrange the top buttons next to the LCD on the 40D :(

Personally i'm glad they did.... i find it alot easier/more intuitive with the new arrangement than on my ol' 30d....
