BTW, one of our nearby neighbours called us this morning - we were just getting back home from the morning walk to Goodwill and back at 7 ish, and they said there was a dolphin in the river, swimming along. We raced upstairs (or up-lift) to see it - sure enough, it was heading inland (well, up river) to QUT end. I got a few pics of it - 300mm is very dodgy and lacking - shall we say - sharpness? ! I'll see how they come out and maybe post one or two when I get home this afternoon.

Okay, heading off to the post office soon to post off the 12-24 to melbourne to get fixed. No idea how to do it though. Like ive got the soft case it came in but i dont know whether to get a box or whatever.

Honestly i couldnt care less if i never see the damn thing again, as far as im concerned my dad paid for it hence it should now be his problem :|

And slim chance but Ruth or Helen, any chance of borrowing your 70-200 f4 for just friday? (well probably thursday night because ill be leaving really early friday morning). Also willing to pay with beer if that appeals at all (now i can) although it would only be a six pack because im poor... lol

having posted heaps of bike parts around the country, you're pretty much best off trying to keep the lens as protected as possible while keeping the package as small as possible (to minimise costs)

try putting the lens in the pouch, then wrap it in bubblewrap and put it in a little box. depending on the weight you may be able to get away with then putting that box in a pre-paid satchel which would make it $5-10 max to post.

that said, putting it in a box covered in fragile stickers would probably be safer for the lens :p

Sounds good to me. Anything decent over at Mt O? Just let me know what time and ill be on a bus that way.

Also, my dad took the large Metz hammer head flash thing we have with him, cardboard box and all

Me thinks he might be trying to show off to the other people at the blood bank conference

About 10 minutes max i think. There is a bus just before the hour and half hour through the day so getting there isnt too hard at all.

yeah I know I do :) heheh it's not that dear either...

I was going to get a 70-200 f/2.8 IS first, but I got a permanent loaner of them... so perhaps a 135 is doable :)

Snow = rox. Stayed in a lodge that was 10m away from the Perisher ski-slope halfway up so you could just walk out and start skiing... awesomeness.

Was just us on the slope, too - alllll day. Going slightly out of season sure has its advantages....

Practicing some panning on the day I couldn't ski after busting up my shoulder:

Trying out the competition... gotta get me some film for my Praktica, film cameras are so much fun:

I still can't justify the 70-200 2.8 IS... 135L fits my short tele needs at the moment. I've got to stop dreaming about longer teles now... or the 200mm 2.8. $995! Looks like a beaut lens, too... if only it had a wider aperture than the zoom in that range.

Mind you, it's still got a lot of things going for it - smaller, black, sharper (not that that's a huge issue but it'd be nice for selective DOF)..
