Ooh! Take me with you - I know some awesome roads not too far from Brisbane.

Course, the poor little sporty probably won't keep up with a Lotus, but I'm willing to take a fair crack, for the sake of art of course. :D

Yeah - he leads a tough life - 31 year old lawyer, works in Brisbane for an Italian firm linked to UK and enjoys a very nice salary. He's acquired his old man's taste for fast cars, hence the Lotus, and old cars hence the Alfa. He goes up past The Gap to the mountains 2 or 3 times per week as his day doesn't usually start until 12 noon. I went with him once or twice - the car's a bit squeezy for me as I'm just over 6', he's a bit shorter. We shared the drive - it was bl oo dy great fun!

He's raced the car at Warwick a few times, and gets some good times, as with the Mt Cotton Hill Climb.

I reckon that's a fair call, for art's sake!

They are. His is bright yellow. He was tossing up between that and a Caterham which was great - he drove one whilst deciding - went like the clappers. I took it around Brekky Creek/Hamilton and sat it in 4th gear at 30kph, floored it and the take up was amazing. Hit a ton before I knew it ;)

He settled on the Lotus tho - better after-sales service, and just as much fun as the Caterham, but with more luxuries - radio, air con etc!

That's my regular! I work shifts, so a couple of days a week I take the little girl for a quick blat over Mt Glorious.

There is an awesome unofficial hill climb circuit near Kenilworth - ask him if he's been there. It's a one-way street (road is divided into up - down roads), and as such you can get some serious sideways action happening into the corners.

There are a few others as well. We'll have to go for a run one day so I can show you.

Sounds good - he goes up Mt G early and races with the bikes (watch out, Leitch!) - they lose him on straights, he loses them on corners. Then they have brekky at the cafe up there! Early = less chance of tickets or points loss!

He's just bought some serious tyres, and has lightened the exhaust. Couple of other minor things, apart from that, stock std. Apparently does Warwick track in 43-44 secs - his mate, who has been doing it for years and has seriously modded his Lotus cracks 42, so 43-44 is not too shabby for a relatively new (to racing) driver.

Hey, me too! I've yet to see a bike that was able to go round one of those corners (upright ;) ) faster than a sports car with a good suspension setup.

Though there was this Ducati once, he gave me a run for my money.

I'll ask him if he's been to Kenilworth - I'm guessing he has. He's in Italy at the mo (work) - due back in a couple of weeks.

If any bike'll do it, a Duke'll be the one.

hehe. different type of bike

that said, racing cars down Nebo on the road bike used to be fun... get up to between 80-90km/h on some of the wider parts (tight mossy corners + skinny tyres means you have to slow down considerably to corner).

Down's a different story - with a 45 year old car, drums on the back, and shonky cylinders on the front with a dose of brake fade that goes from "stop" to "holy sh!T!" over the space of 2 corners, I'm not even going to try and take you on the downhill sections!
