There's nothing like a good camera salesman who's basically thrusting the camera into your hands, telling you to play with it and mess around as much as you want..

You've described it perfectly! That's exactly what I needed today and it would have broken down whatever little resistance I had and I'd be happily charging my 40D now. But sadly I remain cameraless since I sold my old one on eBay and I'm stuck with my lenses with nothing to shoot haha

I'll admit to capitalizing on this sort of salesman and going into the local stores I know are good just to get the latest and greatest gear shoved into my hands to play with... keeps me dreamin' ;)

hehehe Telstra are a strange mob.

Tell me about it. After some crazy length of time on hold and much button pushing my mum got is sorted out. Get this, they had sent the last two bills to a house we havnt lived at for some 10 years :|

It was the last place we lived where we had an account with telstra and for some reason they kept that address and used that instead of the current one we gave them when we got the number again.

Hey everyone,

Mmm I wonder was it a gent in his late 40's or early 50's. If so complaining to the boss wouldn't do much good;)

I've never had too much of a problem with them myself but I really haven't bought anything from them in several years. NerdyNigel had a very bad experience with them when he bought his DSLR and spent his money elsewhere because of it.

I got on very well with Michael also. We a lively but pleasant debate one day about how the net was effecting bricks and mortar stores.

I probably would've done that too...

cept... me being the prick that I am would've also done the following.

bought some L glass... borrowed a whole heap of new looking stuff...

walked back to his shop... said to him holding my brand new 5D and 40D and a backpack full of new L glass..... and said...

BIG mistake... your attitude cost your shop this 15K shopping spree I just went on.

and wandered off taking pics randomly as I went.

I guess we could still do this, imaging the gear list we could pack into a backpack.

I have absolutely no idea why, but Telstra has gone and disconnected our home phone number. Obviously the net still works, but yeah, no home phone.

It just gives us a message saying the number has been disconnected whether you try and ring from it or ring the home number from another phone. Still scratching our heads as to why it was done and mums on the phone to them at the moment.

So id like to take a moment to say,

Thanks Telstra for Being useless

that happened to us two months ago.. they didn't even send notification.

Just droping in to say hi, hope you all are going well.

On the weekend i rented a SIGMA EX HSM 120-300MM F2.8 lens from Kayell Qld Pty Ltd. It turns a lot of heads.

All up for the weekend costed $150. I got the lens to help tokk some photographs for a friends drama play. She payed $120.

well if you like... dream up something semi creative and related to photography, and I'll register it and give you a mail forward... i've been wanting one so I can sub let portions of my VPS to people for nothing (small space and bandwidth for free type thing)... but it sorta stopped at 'ideas for a domain name'...

Cool, will do. :)

They disconnected us like that about two months ago as well.

When I move out of home I'm going to get a voip phone and do it that way. Avoid Telstra all together.

Hey everyone,

I was in my usual camera store today, Rainer's Camera House in the city, and was served by a very unprofessional and rude man.

...

But shame on that one employee. I am a professional, and I take care of my patients, and from what I saw today, your actions were very unprofessional indeed. Poor form, mister.

I would have told him if he'd like me to direct my enquiries down to Ted's and seen what his reaction was.

They showed us a excerpt from (i think it was) Pretty Woman at my Woolies indiction. Julia Robert's character did the exact sort of thing that Feng said re: buying elsewhere and rubbing it in their faces.

-spam- wrote in post #4132900 (external link)
Shame you had that experience with Rainers. I usually steer clear of them anyway because of how pushy they are to try and sell me something when ever i set foot in the door.

I don't go anywhere near them. I want to be able to see the products for myself like at Teds, not rely on some person behind a counter to get it out from behind him. Heck, they don't even sell L glass...
