if you entered the competition, you better make some decent images, so you get into the finalists.. so we can all vote for you, so you can buy some decent stuff. so you can lend said decent stuff out to said voters.

It tells you on the Canon site:

1) Box
2) Balloon
3) Cellophane
4) Dots
5) Stick of chalk

Not the most fascinating, but I wouldn't mind seeing how I go with 'creativity'

Fairy Nuff. Makes sense - you wanna make sure you get the best chance to take the best shots.

Besides, the AF in the 20D is better than the pentax. Better chance of keeping up with the cars ;)

Also, just phoned work to find out what the deal was with me not getting paid the correct amount and they basically said that yeah they may have screwed up, but there is nothing they can do until i next go into work (a week and a half away). Its not a lot of money, but still, id prefer to have it in my account now given it should be.

If I read it correctly they don't give you a voucher for "x" sum of money. The winner recieves a brand spankin' new 40D, a printer of some description and something else. But it's mainly the 40D I'm after. :p

Yeah - sux. The excuse is always "we'll fix it next pay". You can bet that if it was the other way and you owed them they'd be on your back.

BTW, Feng, I played with my 18-55 with f stop variable when zooming out and back, and f stop dropped back automatically. Am hopefully getting that 17-85 today so will have a look out for that.

hrmm... guess it depends on what mode you're shooting?

I do a lot of Av shooting, and it didn't do that on the 350D that's for sure.

If you're in P or greenbox then it may do...

But Av, and M it didn't on my 350D, or 30D. with 18-55 and 17-85... and it gave me the s**ts and still does... tempted to get another 50mm for my 350D.

I'm mainly AV too, sometimes M. Sometimes use P, never Green Box (yet). Will have to read about that setting!

I'll have another look and play with different lenses and settings.

Interesting. I still think that it for most of the people having problems, it was user error. Not denying that there are some faulty cameras out there, just that i dont think they were all as bad as people made them out to be

I wouldnt mind the printer and the md-80 thingy (think thats what its called). The 40D would be pretty sweet too i guess

And then im the one that has to provide the copy of the payslip and a record of the money that went into my account. So ive got to go to all the trouble when they were the ones that screwed up

He's gone off line.

He mentioned to me the other day that with a zoom lens, that runs 18-55, with f stop from 4-5.6, (or whatever the numbers are) when you're at 18 the f stop is at 4 minimum. When you zoom out, f stop increases to 5.6 minimum, and what should happen when you zoom back in the f stop returns to 4. His lens that he had doesn't do that, so he needs to remember to manually stop back when zooming back. (Got all that?!?!) He has got caught out a coupla times with this.

I checked mine and it stopped out then back automatically when zooming in and out. But it may come down to settings - AV, M etc and the particular lens.
