And then im the one that has to provide the copy of the payslip and a record of the money that went into my account. So ive got to go to all the trouble when they were the ones that screwed up

Yep - that's the way it goes. Wrong, but that's life. At least they'll prolly (eventually) fix it tho - some employers would deny all knowledge.

He's gone off line.

He mentioned to me the other day that with a zoom lens, that runs 18-55, with f stop from 4-5.6, (or whatever the numbers are) when you're at 18 the f stop is at 4 minimum. When you zoom out, f stop increases to 5.6 minimum, and what should happen when you zoom back in the f stop returns to 4. His lens that he had doesn't do that, so he needs to remember to manually stop back when zooming back. (Got all that?!?!) He has got caught out a coupla times with this.

I checked mine and it stopped out then back automatically when zooming in and out. But it may come down to settings - AV, M etc and the particular lens.

Im pretty darn sure that none of my variable aperture zooms go back to wide open when i zoom out if thats what i had it set to.

Will go and check though.

I only looked at the 18-55. Will have a butchers at the others, tho, as I'm more likely to get caught out, being a novice.

Well it shows how much notice i take of what my lens/camera is doing. Both the 10-20 and the 75-300 return to wide open when i zoom out in both M and Av modes. Sometimes had to half press the shutter button to make it register it on the screen though

There you go - a trap for new players. And old, it seems!

That's a bit of a hassle. If we find any discrepancies in our payslips we simply let the payroll officer in our store know and she just back-pays the difference the following week.

I'm mainly AV too, sometimes M. Sometimes use P, never Green Box (yet). Will have to read about that setting!

I'll have another look and play with different lenses and settings.

i'm confused feng - mind explaining what you're talking about?

mmm i think it may be the half shutter press... either way it s**ts me :D HAHAHA...

I've never been caught out... but dunno... maybe I have a nobby kit lens like Tim..

I'll recheck it when I get home, but I'm pretty sure my 17-85 never returned... I could be full of crap though and we'd have to wait for David to return.

I'll confirm again when I get home. Ever since I sold the 17-85 and 30D I haven't had any other variable aperture lenses.

My kit lens does it fine :p

Maybe it's because you guys don't give your kit lenses enough love and attention, and it gets jealous of your various other lenses and as such just doesn't want to work for you....?

Too late now, but I paid $160 for 8GB Extreme IV (apparently 40mbps) ordered from O/S - and genuine. Five gig is still 500 pictures, assuming 10mb?

Not so much selective, just might need some shuffling during the day.

No pressure, but we're all expecting some great shots, esp with the nice glass you've got yourself :-P
