Nah, I am employed as temp which just means I am a casual employee and I am paid above the award and just have the normal requirements of a casual employee.

You do know about Wage Line? (external link) Don't you?

Schweeet. :) what film did you use?

Just some Sensia 100, mmmmmm oh so smooth. Only expired 3 years ago :D Print film goes funky but slide film stays nice even when not stored in the fridge/freezer.

Looks good, Helen.

My Whickey & Cox arrived this week - it's pretty big! I might need to get something in between the mini Lowepro that held the old camera, and this monster.

Yeah, Greg - won't take long at this rate ;). My wife saw it and mentioned on "its' size" - we're going to Melbourne next month and might need to get another air ticket for the bag alone! It should fit the camera gear and laptop in, tho.

I just wanted something that would carry all I might need - have got caught out before when needing something that was sitting safely at home.

Very happy with the finish of the product - great quality.

Few points:

1. are you going to go wireless on battery, or always be plugged in.
2. what OS is on that machine?

either way it's a pretty good buy and you can't go wrong for $700.

Vista basic, can't seem to get XP anymore :p

Apparently 3 hours battery life - I'm going to be doing both wired and out-and-about with it.. a large part of the reason why I'm getting one is to do more writing and I don't write when I'm at home. Why do you ask that?

Jim, it may be worth salary packaging the laptop depending on your income and other bits - we did ours and it costs much less.

Gah! Thankyou so much for reminding me of that! I forgot I can salary package laptops above and beyond the standard... awesome news. That makes it stacks cheaper...

Hmm. That also means that I could buy a more expensive one and still pay the same... but do I need anything better than the cheapie? The excess money could go towards more camera gear.. hmm...

Ahh, that bag is a good one - has done me well for quite a while. Took me ages to get the right setup inside, though... I've finally settled on what I think is pretty ideal - I had too much difficulty getting the body out when it was right at the bottom which is pretty much my only gripe with the bag. Very comfortable to wear fully loaded for long periods!

And if you find a friendly retailer that will bundle up all the gear you want, software included, as long as you get a single price on the receipt, all packagable. We did that with this laptop, Vista, Office 07, wireless mouse, router etc etc etc.

Yeah - I've found that, too re the body location. Looking forward to getting out and about with it. And the 17-85 which arrived yesterday :D - 67mm is a fair bit bigger than the stock 58mm's I've kinda got used to!

Hrm. I might own a laptop at the end of the day at this rate... Tax free is a pretty big incentive. Mind you, I think I'll still stick with the cheapest one just because I don't think I'd do anything that requires dual core processing (no way am I doing major photo work on a laptop when I have this desktop).. if need be I can upgrade the ram myself.

I'll look into what else they might bundle... might also check out some of the other stores around just for comparative purposes. I could probably pick one up for a similar price from the computer fairs, if not marginally cheaper, but I'm happy having somewhere nearby and reputable to return it to.

Yeah - knowing how temperamental PC's tend to be (envy MAC users ) it would pay to be able to have some sort of recourse in the event of an issue. And price wise, probably not much diff between fairs and stores.

My friends macs play up just as much as our pcs ever did... and my pc doesn't play up at all anymore once I spent a year or two ironing out all of the creases ;)

Not that I do anything particularly weird with my computer - I know people who have XP crash on them all the time.. hasn't ever done so to me once! I think not gaming and loading weird crap on helps a lot.
