I know Andrew, you're leaving pretty soon, but for future reference, the bloke I got my last lens and extender/tubes from - $547 plus delivery

http://cgi.ebay.com.au …ZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem (external link)

PS not sure of there are differing Siggy 10-20 lenses for Canon - saw another for $590.

Wow, might have to keep them in mind when im down there in March.

Holy cow, Pocket Wizard transceiver for $262 (external link)

Thanks David, that's a good link. I got mine for $645 at Teds after I told them Rainer's would do $650, so I'm pretty happy with that. Unfortunately I couldn't get any less at Rainer's as I was dealing with the owner and he seemed a bit grumpy today :p.

wow, good job on getting Teds to go down on their price. Ive tried it in the past and they would usually only take $10 off no matter what Rainers price was like.

willstar wrote in post #4538579 (external link)
Yep - that's the plan :D

Even for non-landscapey shots - I took one in Melbourne in the Mall at night outside Myer, with the overhead lights running across the top, and the pavement below. 7mm less (ie 10-20 instead of 17-85) would have changed an alright piccy to a niiccee piccy. Ah well.

heheh, it does that alright ;)

For example,

24mm

vs.

10mm

He's pretty good value. I dealt direct with him for the 70-200. He's in Notting Hill.

That's a helluva diff between shots.

(Jetstar) Nicely reversed - all for the good of the shot, huh?

Think i might try and save for a 10-17 fish eye (external link) and pick that up while im down there. And maybe a 90mm macro (external link) and 77mm CPL (external link). They have some good prices on the Tamron stuff and i wouldnt be waiting weeks for it to arrive from HK.

My bank account is going to hate you for sharing the link, but my 20D will love you ;)

It really is. Once you step past 17mm, its a whole other world.

That'll be some nice glass. He'll trim the prices if you speak to him direct. Let me know if you need contact details. There's always something lens-wise on the list. I've fortunately just a change at work resulting in more moolah so might have to treat myself.

That it is - amazing. And I was reading a thread the other day from a seasoned landscaper (ie he takes landscape shots, not does gardening ;)) where he said he hasn't touched the shutter release fro as long as he can remember - tripod and remote is the go. And locked.

Might grab the details a bit closer to going down there. I also like how cheap the shipping is, none of that $75 crap for a little accessory like off the HK stores...

Got around to scanning the roll of film i got developed last week. Turns out i should have used it up and developed it much sooner...

That is cheap. Almost beats importing if you're only after the one unit.

Damn you and your prime fireworks-viewing position

P.S. I'm posting this from my new toy. Now I can check in on POTN if I'm watchin' telly and an ad break comes on :)
Got my camera back this morning too, so I was playing around with a few shots. I'll post one up when I jump back on the laptop.

Yeah - that's where the profit is for them, not in the actual goods they sell.

Have you got a TV receiver in the lappy?

I wish i had a working lappy. And phone for that matter. looks like it has to go back yet another time because its still doing what it did the first time took it back. Think they can just give me a new phone this time.

I think my previous post may have been misleading.
This is the new toy I was referring to:

I do, however, have a USB tuner for my laptop but because it needs to be hooked up to the wall it pretty much has to stay in my room if I want to watch TV on it.

Whaddya mean "Paul has one also I think"? You KNOOOOOOOW I have one and got struck by the same disease that made me buy a (still working) 40D. Subliminal message disease followed by a bad bout of Spenditis:D Your Newton is the upside down version of mine...it rotates the flash...mine rotates the camera. Both good ideas.

I thought about the camera version but ... I dunno why I ended uo going with the flash one.

Hmmm... just had a spot of good luck come my way.

A few days ago, MX had a competition in the paper for return flights from here to anywhere in australia for two people with jetstar. I saw it and joked with hayley that it would be cool if i won it so we could fly down to melbourne together next year. So i put an entry in figuring nothing would come from it.

Just had a phone call to tell me that id won :D

Although at first i thought it was someone asking me to come in for a job interview

Congrats Sam. Gotta be in it to win it.

Nice toy Nick.
