Heres one panorama shot I took at the beach today. Click to see larger image.

That is a wicked panorama, Luke. I was reading an article in setting up panoramas in a "Digital Phoptography and Design" mag which my wife got me a subscription for at Chrissie. Quite interesting. I've put together a few over the years - the longest was about 8 shots, I think. I used to use a Canon Powershot A20 which had a panorama feature, making it quite easy, along with the Photostitch software. I'll have to see if PSPXii Photo has a pano feature.

Also, Sam and Feng, there was an article on doing some Tilt Shift the manual way, using software rather than with a dedicated lens. Also interesting, and I know you both like that sorta thing.

The joys of dialup, what I would give for a wireless router just about now. My MIL has a wireless broadband connection at their holiday place here, but it is directly plugged into her laptop. I can see the wireless signal but don't know the security key and my MIL just has a little app on her desktop that allows her to connect to it. I could have just thrown my router into the car along with all of the other essential things (camera gear, laptop) but no I didn't think of that. I copped flack because I had more bags for my camera stuff than I did for my cloths.

Never needed to know much about how wireless broadband works and now I'm wishing I did. Time for a bit of research I think - all be it very slow research.

Even though its directly plugged into her laptop, there should be a way (from her computer) to get at the settings screen for the router thing. From there you'd be able to find out the network key at least and the pass phrase, although windows usually fetches that for me after i punch in the network key.

It shows examples of the writer's work more so than technique, but is still interesting.

The cover looks like this:

My Domke F-803 just arrived.. will post pics once it gets out of the washing machine and dries :p So far the thing feels so damn solid - very tough feeling bag. The amount of padding is a bit shocking after using Crumpler but definitely seems sufficient.

The sand colour is very pleasantly dark, too, not like some of the photos floating around... it's also the perfect size for what I want. Couldn't be happier with it so far for something I bought having never seen one!

Anyone noticed that Photo Continental's website format has changed. Seems the speed of the site hasn't though...

And anyone also noticed that the time of the message (in the POTN threads) now shows, as well as the usual "10 minutes ago"....

yeah, noticed that last night. Although its only the home page that has changed. The rest of it is still the same as it always has been and as you say, the speed still sucks.

I thought something was different. A good thing to add i reckon, better than how vague it was before.

Cheers. I had used 10 pics for the image. All of which were hand held :P I used PhotoMerge on Photoshop CS3 to join them together and was quite pleased with the results

With all the talk of laptops lately, id just like to add that im now posting from mine again. New hard drive looks to have taken care of all the problems i was having since i got it. Nice and speedy.

Its nice to have double the space too, although i wouldnt complain if the screen went a bit further than 1024x768

Good work. More space does help.

I'm contemplating removing the second partition that came with our lappy which, in theory, should be used for backups etc. The reality is that if the HDD craches, it all goes anyway. I use an external drive for backups, so don't need the split drive, and I could use the space on the primary drive. Just need to make sure that Windows Disk Management in Vista is not going to cause me any issues.

Sounds like a good idea, although its microsoft and more to the point, vista, so its going to cause problems anyway ;)

Still cant believe that the lappy boots faster than my main pc. Think it might be time to start fresh with that again too. Although it really needs replacing.
