I was planning to go down to a festival outside of Newcastle but it was cancelled which meant it was too late for me to get a pass for Woodford. I had plans of going up for a day or two but with the weather I went meh. I am going up tomorrow though to collect my brother and his mates. mmm wet tent to take care of.

Peats is closer to Sydney than Newcastle ;) (I remember when once one paper referred to Newcastle as a northern suburb of Sydney, mind you...)

My NYE, well I got fired in a roundabout way, "you mean no one has told you that they don't want you back next week?", "mmm no", "that is not nice, well we (agency) would like you to come in and have a chat, and look at some new jobs" Helen is now back to trawling the job ads. I got a monitor calibrator as well. A spyder2, I am relatively happy with it.

Well... damn! I hope the job hunting goes well! Relatively happy? Is that a not-100% satisfied?

Well - nothing screams unprofessionalism like a company that can't communicate THAT sort of news - while it sux big pooties, I suspect you are better off out of there. Best of luck with the new search.

Oh, yeah. Either have somewhere covered large enough to set it up for drying or wait for good weather... and, judging by the forecasts I am seeing at the moment, that may be a day or two.

Well Newcastle would have been the last big town I would have driven through - hence outside of NC, though outside doesn't really specify how far outside.

thanks. It takes a little while to get used to it - I still feel that the monitor colours a little too warm.

They were by no means a picture postcard company. But I wanted to leave on my own terms not theirs. Now I have to see about getting a reference...

We actually have a large area below the house which is the tent drying quarters. The tent shouldn't be too bad though. The tarp on the other hand...

Don't know PSP but check an options button or slider to adjust the JPG quality. I shoot JPG most of the time and with the 40D the files are 3-4MB, after edits in CS2 I save as JPG again at Quality 11 (out of 12) to give a file size of 1.8-2.8MB. These are then resized by a IMatch script before uploading to my domain. The resized files are about 100KB (average)

I probably should upload smaller files and keep full size on HDD. I'll check out the jpg size options when saving in PSPX2. Cheers. PS had another play with the Siggy - it's good fun. Was wandering around the Mother-In-Law's garden, finding all sorts of spiders, flies etc. Just didn't have the tripod with me, so that's a lesson learnt.

Also discovered (in the wind) that the Velbon is not really that stable - might need to upgrade.

Oh I am thinking of you Ruth! I sure hope it starts to clear up a bit.

That is a good one :D Groggy Greg or Robby Ron?

Ouch - sorry to hear about the DCM, Helen (don't come Monday).

I was reading about Spyder 2 - you were hoping it'd arrive by Friday. Not sure if it'd help much on our lappy.

Ahh, OK. I'll go thru the rest to see what I have. He was a jumpy bugger - more shots of nothing than of him, as he would move as soon as the shutter released and flash went off. Some shots were of him in flight from jump to jump, but all a blur

I did the FEC adjustment and diffuser which made a diff tho - thanks again. ;)

I haven't got a good shot of one of these guys yet. The pre-flash that the ETTL system emits seems to spook them so when the real flash goes off they are a blur in the air.:o

Just got back from Noosa - sounds like you have all had a good New Years and enjoyed the associated festivities!

Helen, sorry to hear about the job (and not a particularly nice way to find out, either!), all the best for finding a new one.

And finally, I officially now have a compulsive spending disorder. New glass to arrive within the next two days :)
