In Camera Noise reduction....

Anyone use it? If so How well does it work?

only a few cameras offer it, and it is mainly useful only in jpg mode. if you where talking about long exposure noise reduction on the other hand, as long as the exposures are kept to under half a battery life long, the it should be fine.


I don't hate macs or OSX, I hate people and statements that portray them as better than anything else. Macs are A solution, not THE solution. Get a good desktop i7 with Windows 7 and come tell me that sucks for photo or video editing.

On the 40D it works as advertised. Not a perfect solution, but good.


In the persuit of total contentment, Canon does not help :)

I will not use it on my 40D. Look at what it does to the buffer. From 75 down to 6 shots. High price to pay. Do your noise reduction in the computer.

If you have it on, could it slow down the frame speed when you are shooting RAW in a regualr M mode?

My FPS goes very slow sometimes and I always forget to check and see if I have this cf turned on...

Still looks as noisy as ISO400 always does. No different to my 30D.
