I think the 2nd hockey pic would have been better if you would have upped the ISO and ss, also it looks a little blown. the 1st one is great and I love the 3rd shot!

Very nice shots! I like the new uniforms. The second shot works for me the way it is. Nice use of slower shutter speed to show speed/motion.

Did you try the highlight priority thingy for those hockey pics? Any before and after shots. Seems like the ideal time to use it. :)

I'm jealous!

I got a 40D since I need a 1.6X crop for motorsport photography.
I did not use the highlight priority option on the hockey shots since the ice would have been too much of an influence.

Thank you for comments...

Can you elaborate on

too much of an influence

? I thought it would increase the dynamic range to show more detail in the ice and avoid blown out areas?

+ now you have two pro bodies as well as more than 2 L glass lenses which means you qualify for canons pro service

NEZA:
40D is not a pro body!
I already qualify for CPS since I also Have a pro body film camera and plenty of L lenses.

NICK B:
If you have ever shot in arena's you will notice that you need to compensate 1to 1 and half stop overexposed to make the player properly exposed and to get a white sheet of ice. It's the same with winter landscapes, compensation is very important since all the white throws off your meter.

In the first two photos, why did you use f/4 instead of f/2.8?

Because I wanted to get the whole body of the player as much possible in the depth of field.

I wanted to eliminate all distractions in the bar shot. I wanted only the RED R to come out sharp.

Sebmour, do you shoot officially for the NHL (or one of the clubs)? That is something I would sure like to do some day.

Very nice shots! I like the new uniforms.

The ones in sebmour's photos are actually the practice jerseys, unless you meant the new Rbk Edge jerseys accross the league.

No I do not shoot for the NHL. OF course this would be a dream job but maybe one day I might succeed to this level.
