This time of year there are hundreds of these Violet Darters at the lake, and some people freak out when they try to walk down the road next to the lake thinking that they bite. One lady started to get upset as she tried to go through all of the dragonflies that were on the ground, and I had just spooked the one I was photographing into the air. So I got her attention, held out my hand, and I got the critter to land on my finger instead of the fence post that it had been perching on. It was so cool... :)

Brilliant pic again Dalantech. I am always amazed at people being scared of things like this, but I guess growing up in Africa, I am just used to critters like this. I guess if I had lived in a concrete jungle insted of the bush, I might also be afraid of them. Thanks for sharing.

How fantastic! These have really stunning colours and I would imagine to see those wings in the sunlight is great to see. I am quite envious of you having so many all in one place.

Great shot and nice story. :D

It's the unknown that frightens most people. Hopefully, you'll have done your bit to educate her.

Thanks Joan! Most people don't pay attention to them, but from time to time I see someone who is almost paralyzed when the dragonflies take to the air
