Sometimes I feel like my photography isin't as good as its been, and I just have that need to go out and shoot something in particular, to make me think otherwise.

I like to give myself some boundaries, that way it forces me to think, kinda like back when I took a few photography courses. My goal this time was to shoot only with my 50, and work only between f/1.4 - 1.8.

So I got Jason to come out (that wasn't hard), but the hard part, was we decided to go and shoot from the middle of Alex Fraser Bridge (external link) prior to sunset, which means we had to start walking by 6:15am, meaning I had to be up at 5:30am just to make it there. Yes we're talking on a Saturday morning (when I like to sleep in!).

Anyways, so we met up only to see clouds in the sky. So we didn't get our perfect sunrise as we had hoped the night before, but we still managed to get some amazing shots. Its crazy the amount of shots you can get from the middle of a bridge, when you set your mind to it.

I should mention I did cheat and pulled out my 17-40L as the lines of the bridge were way too cool not to be able to capture in full. Also its late, so I've gone a little crazy in LR with the processing.

Okay onto the pictures!

PS: Jason and I, or moreso Jason got inspired by Vincent Laforte's keynote at the Canon expo last week. Those pics to come soon :P

As I told you before, I really like the lines in #4 & #5. I'm also really liking #3 as well. The DOF gives it an effect resembling the "miniature" effect that is usually obtained with a Tilt/Shift lens - very cool.

My favorite here is the barge. Love the lines and colors.

Gujustud, I really like the composition and use of B&W in your first shot. It gives a feeling of urban "grittiness".

Jason, good work on composition with your third shot. The support wires against the cloudy sky works well in that shot.

Guj, I really like the DOF on #1 and the lines in #4. Nice job on the shots and for getting outta bed, easier than it sounds!
