Hello,

I have just joined this forum and nor had much time to scour through it so it might be a silly question but what lens would you suggest using with a Canon 5 D for wedding photography, thank you in anticipation.

There's a lot of good information in the FAQ sticky at the top of this forum and I think that includes some discussion of lenses. I'mnot qualified to offer much else, except Welcome to the forum and good luck

Besides the FAQ you could also do a search which will yield a lot more results in a less time.

I absolutely love it.

YEP the 85 1.2L rocks on the 5D as does the 35 1.4L.

Assuming you are seeking one lens, 24-70 or 70-200 depending on needed reach.

I'd tend to agree; I think the 24-70 would be the better choice of the two in most cases. If you have an external flash as well, the 24-105 IS might be a slightly better one-lens solution, since it has a tad more reach. But this really isn't a situation where you can reasonably expect that one lens will do it all.

I think the 24-70 and 70-200 2.8 IS are much more important lenses to get before wasting money on the uber slow focusing 85L.

Please... I have never missed a shot because of slow focus on the 85 and I have the old version. What you gain in IQ far out weighs any perceived slowness in the focusing. This lens just shines on a 5D...

But I think 24-70 on 5D is a killer combo, and much more versatile than 85mm ;) But if you can zoom in/out by moving your feet, 85mm would be great ! Just my 2cents.

24-105 F4L would be my pick, along with a 50 1.4 for when it's dark.
