Help making all of this work - on the cheap?

I'm fairly certain that I have everything I need to set up a simple and portable two-light arrangement but I'm hoping for insight into how to wire it all together.

A little background:
I have three White Lighting 1600 strobes in my studio but they aren't exactly the most portable lights for hauling around and setting up on sight. Attached to them, I have the Paul C Buff Radio One receivers which I use in conjuction with the wireless transmitter on my camera: http://www.white-lightning.com/rft1.html (external link)

My goal:
I would like to use my existing equipment along with my Canon 580EX and 430EX to set up a more portable set of lights. My goal is to set each of my Canon flashes on a light stand with an umbrella and trigger them remotely from my camera. My hope is that the Radio One transmitter and receivers can be adapted to fire the Canon Flashes.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Mike

Well, the rft1 remote receiver use AC power, I wouldn't call that a portable solution. There are similar remote triggers out on eBay that use batteies for half of the cost.

The catch is that I already have the rft1 remote receivers and transmitter. I'm going to be doing a lot of indoor portrait shoots and just need a way to get the 1/4" or 1/8" sync on the receiver to trigger a hot-shoe flash...

It has to be possible somehow....

You can get one of the Canon hotshoe based flash into the mix relatively easy, but adding the second will be more expensive.

Just purchase a female hotshoe to 1/4" phone jack adapter for one of your Canon EX flash units, and use the cord that comes with the White Lighting 1600 flash units. This might be a bit tricky as the White Lightning actually uses a stereo version of the 1/4" inch phone plug with only two of the three conductors wired.

Then your White Lightning units can be triggered by their built in optical slaves.

The other option would be additional "Radio One" receivers for both the Canon EX flash units, and the proper hotshoe to "Radio One" adapter. But as Lotto indicates, running AC power to all these receivers would really inhibit.

Does the "Radio One" have a 1/4" mono phone plug connector (I think so). Can you provide a link to an image of the "Radio One" radio receiver.

Enjoy! Lon

Thanks for you help. I guess what I really need is to find a hot shoe adapter that would take either the 1/4" or 1/8" plug from the Radio One receiver. It comes with a 1/4" plug and an adapter for a 1/8" plug as well...

Anyone know where to get that kind of hot shoe adapter?

Can anyone confirm that this will do the trick?
Lon, if it doesn't work, can I return them?

Do I need two of them to trigger my 580EX and 430EX or can I get away with just one to trigger the 580 and set it to Master with the 430 on slave?

I just want to send a gigantic THANK YOU to Lon!
He set me up with a custom cord adapted from one that he usually sells... AND shipped it out to me the same day.

In case anyone needed any additional evidence, he is indeed a great guy!
