My sister in law is looking at picking up a negative scanner from Costco. I'll admit I'm totally out of place here.
Any thoughts on this one?

She might want to look at some of the Epson flat-bed scanners with transparency/negative capabilities. Around the same price range but 4800 to 6400 dpi resolution and dMax of at least the 3.2 of that one. Plus they'll do paper or film that's over 35 mm in size.

I have a Canoscan 8600F which is a flatbed scanner with negative capabilities. I've been pretty happy with it and appreciate the "multifunction" capability.
