Hey guys,

well I did my first band shoot with the 40d and I must say it was a pleasure. Live view came in REALLY handy and 6.5 fps was very useful! I must say, this camera is a pleasure to use.

Let me know what you think of these shots! Feel free to edit and repost

Very neat shots. I like #5 the best, but #2 and #3 are pretty cool, too. Nice work!

Yeah I framed the shot that way when i shot it, but I ended up cropping the feet out. It just seem to lack a real focal point without a couple of the guys a little closer.

Cheers@!

3 and 4 are my favorite. all of them are fun, and very well composed. but those two really do it for me. shows the fun side of the band, and the band.

Thanks shannon! I see you are in Sacramento as well. What kind of work do you do out here?

I really like number 3 the best....seems to fit well with your style: creative, graphic, and fun.

The more portrait you go, the more it's not my taste: the odd color balance is too distracting to my eyes, and IMO makes an odd portrait. So I say roll with having fun in your compositions. The more fun it is, the better your style is!:D

I like them very much. They are well composed and well exposed. My only question: why HDR? I think it takes away from most of them. The haloing is disitracting.

Rian said that only two of the photos are HDR processed. I think his style has that HDR look because of a yellow to red color temp and increased contrast. Seems that most tone mapping does that with HDR....one of the reasons why I like doing HDR manually instead of having the computer process it.

Anyway, I think the HDR like color balance is best as a graphic photo.
