A570IS Display Issue?

Guys - I need some feedback/info. I purchased my daughter a new Canon A570IS for her birthday 2 weeks ago. It takes great pictures but she says it has a problem and wants me to return it. When you turn the camera on , the display works fine. Once you take a picture the display stays on for a few seconds and then goes blank. Still in the camera mode I can take another picture or two but they do not show on the LCD screen. I turn the switch to show photos from camera and all the pictures are there and show on the screen. I told her she probably has something turned off but she gave me the camera today and I can't find out what's wrong. Has anyone got an idea or do I need to send this back to Amazon for a replacement? I tried that and after pushing the display button 3 times, the dispolay comes back. After taking another picture it goes blank again, but pushing the button 3 times brings it back to life.Now I've purchased 3 different Canon digital cameras over the last 4 years and have never seen anything like this. It worked, but is that normal for Canon digitals now?

No, it's not. I'll check the manual tomorrow for any "hidden settings".

pg 12 of the advanced manual says
in Camera Mode
1 - Standard mode, no info
2 - Detailed, full info
3 - No display

The shooting information displays for six seconds, when its changed, regardless of mode

Sounds like you are in mode 3, and pushing it 3 times will put you back in mode 3. try pushing twice to rotate through the display choices.

Didn't see any hidden modes in the advanced manual.

Some Power Saving settings can be a sort of the ‘hidden mode’ you are talking about.

In the Set up menu - Power Saving you can set the time to shut
the LCD Off after 10/20/30 sec./1/2/3min
See page 22 of the advanced user guide.

Edit: If the LCD is off after the selected time has elapsed, pressing the shutter button half way will turn it on again.

Set the ‘Display Off’ time to at least 1 min (default) and be sure you pressed the display button until ‘Standard’ or ‘Detailed’ are selected, then test the camera behavior again.

Check the "Review" menu setting as well. But it really sounds like something's amiss.

Guys thanks for the help but everything I have tried will not work. I've reset everything, put in new batteries, nothing works. Display goes off and only comes back on when you turn camera off and back on or push the display button 3 times. I guess it's going back
