I bought my 300D second-hand. It came with everything it was originally shipped with, but the CD with the software is damaged.

What I would like to know is, is there somewhere I can download a copy? The Canon website has upgrades, but I need the original software to upgrade it. Canon would sell me another CD if I lived in the US, but I don't. I can't afford a copy of Photoshop at the moment, so I'm stuck with the cheap/free route, and I've heard the Canon software is actually quite useful.

Thanks for your help, guys.

If all you need is basic image editing software there are a number of free programs. GIMP is a freeware image editing software with a ton of features. If you are looking for RAW conversion I think silky pix offers a free version.

Create the following keys in the Windows Registery, and you'll be able to install all upgrades without need for the Original CDs:

"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Canon\DPP"
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Canon\EOS Utility"
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Canon\PhotoStitch"
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Canon\ZoomBrowser Ex"

Be carefull when you use RegEdit.

You guys are awesome! Thanks very much.

I downloaded cdiphoto's copy, because I'm not a computer person, and anything I have to be careful with scares me! Thanks though.
