I am trying to edit the 700 pics I took at my first wedding the other day, what I have done so far is to delete the ones that are no good. Now what I am doing is going through each one to do some mild editing but no cropping incase they want different size prints. After that I was going to go through them and look for the really good ones and do a final edit and save them to a different file. Is there an easier way to do this?

My workflow (such as it is) is to first seperate through tagging the various groups of photos taken in the same light, then seeing which global adjustments are applicable to those groups.

For example those taken at the reception may need a WB adjustment along with +1/3 exposure comp and more agressive NR. So I run that batch adjustment along with the others and then do my intital edits, tagging the ones which I feel are album material and which are suited to printing and which are plain garbage.

So that leaves me two basic groups of photos .. the best ones and the other ones. All garbage pics have been weeded out and basic WB, exposure, and noise reduction done. At this point you can post the JPEGS for viewing if that's part of your package.

I then review each file individually and carefully for any more required adjustments, and the odd bit of cloning, etc.

I'm sure you won't have to wait long before someone more experienced gives you a more efficient workflow  but right now it works for me .. but whatever you do try to establish and group the basic adjustments and then batch process them .. to individually process several hundred files is a nightmare.

I pretty much do what you do. When I import into lightroom, I run my standard preset on them. Then I go through each one and adjust white balance and fine tune exposures. Some get a bit extra like sepia or whatnot. Then others get even more in CS2 and the PSD file is just grouped with the original raw. Then I export them all to Jpeg.

ZoomBrowser > DPP > Noise Ninja > CS3.

I tried Lightroom and it's fantastic but I've been happy with the above for now. Like many I will eventually switch to Lightroom.
