The D80 was an incredible machine - everything you don't even know you want your 30D to do, it does. On demand grid lines in the viewfinder, wirelessly control off camera flashes with the pop-up, adjust the temp of the built in WB settings, af assist light built in to the body, body driven AF (makes 3rd party lenses focus accurately, customizable everything...

...but the files looked like a$$...

If the D3/D300 live up to their marketing do you think you'll switch to Nikon? I've got mine on order and will make a decision on what I'm ultimately doing once they've been out and tested for about a month. I'd so much rather shoot Nikon; if only they can match the image quality we get with our Canons.

Nikon D3, D300, 10.5 Fisheye, 35 f/1.4, 50 f/1.4, 85 f/1.4, Zeiss 100 f/2, 105 f/2.5, 200 f/4 Micro, 200 f/2, 300 f/2.8, 14-24, 24-70, 70-200, SB-800x4, SB-900, SU-800, (3) Sunpak 120J (2) Profoto Acute 2400s,Chimera softboxes, (4)PW Multimax, (6) C-stands, (3) Bogen Superbooms, Autopoles

OK, I was reading a comment written as a comment on a photographer's blog, when that someone wrote that he was thrilled to have shot at ISO 1600 with the new Nikon D3 and it looked like the ISO 400 on his D2x. The comment made me giggle anyway:

Just think of how this will revolutionize low light photography.

Yeah, it will.... Or have been for many years, if you've shot Canon :D

No - I've made a 3 year commitment to my 5D's. We had a ceremony and everything... 2 more seasons to go before I even begin to look for something new. The other issue is Nikon color. The noise is only part of what I don't like about Nikon files, I really prefer the warmer and more vibrant Canon jpegs...

But Rich man, you have cash in FU quantities! (external link) (Not Kid Safe!)

I am very high on the features of the new D3/D300 as well.

Though I would much prefer to shoot Canon (due to Nikon's noise in images and poor low light shooting) I must stay with Nikon due to my investment in glass alone.

I personally find Nikons have a great feature set and are comfortable while shooting
