alas, it is true that a borrowed 1D II with 100-400 & incompetance can result in humourous duck-shots. :D
e.g. https://photography-on-the.net …p=3913056&postcount=34476

i'm know i'm way late, but this gave me a good laugh.

Shooting a duck with new equipment insures good luck and long life for the equipment. Works for me. :)

Holy Crap! So, I think I need a ruling here. As far as the superstition goes... does the Duck pic have to be posted here to keep the gods happy or will I be safe by just taking the "duck" pic.

I have taken lots of Ducky pics, but dont think I've posted them here.

Just to be safe... this will save my EF 28-135mm. :)

TaCo, the order is supposed to be "Duck Duck Goose" not "Goose Goose Duck" :p

(the geese pic is exceptional btw)

Ahhhh... I see.

Thank you... them Goose's was getting pretty nervous when I took the pic... I was sneaking up on them from behind some blackberry bushes and they were squacking like crazy.

No, lens is fine and you've got some mighty fine honks there. It's just that honks don't qualify for initiation. Now you've got a quack there blessing your lens, so you're all set. The force is with you, congrats!

Quote (Only quacks qualify.)

In certain quarters it could be considered quite contrary to quote that only quacks qualify, are you quietly confident that this is exquackly correct? if you can't quantify this quote perhaps it would be better to quit (whilst you are ahead);)

You are obviously a Quack, so you obviously qualify.

...now go preen your feathers, you never know when the Mother of All Ducks might be watching...
