Beautiful Duck! You did her justice.

Ducks are simply an eternal masterpiece of nature worldwide. Imagine, were ducks to run the world how much more fun and peaceful it would be... waaannnk-waannk-waank-quack!!

I think you better read up on British/Australian slang a little: HERE (external link) is some information (slightly rude)

The difference between a wanker and a quack, is that a wanker wanks and a quack wanks other people around.

If Ducks had cameras, would they take pictures of us?

According to wikianswers (or some place like that):

"No matter what, whether photogenic or not, the photo would be taken. This conclusion would make sense due to the fact if a photo is taken by a duck, and someone IS around to be photographed, it WOULD take the photograph! The "someone" does not have to be there! As an example, picture yourself as a child living with your mum. Your TV is rather bright, and blots out all other lights. Your mum is photographing you from another room. You can't see her, but she is taking a photograph! And maybe you're thinking, "Well the TV is so bright it’s brighter than her 580ex II, so that's why!" Not true! Now picture the same thing, except the TV is not on, and you are lounging on the couch in the dark, not deep in thought. Your mum takes a photograph with direct flash at you again. Though no other photograph is being taken except for hers, you still don’t notice the direct flash in your face! In this description, You're not 'around', or close enough, to notice your mum's inexperienced use of flash! Yet she is still taking a photograph!

The scenarios above would be examples of amateur photography, because mum, herself, would know she was taking a crappy photo. So, I do not agree with that answer and support all the perspectives above the last one. To put it simply, photons hitting the sensor are only photons hitting the sensor. That does not mean that it is a duck taking a photo, because a photo requires sensory organs and a nervous system to process the vibrations and then interpret those vibrations as groovy photos man.

Here is my analogy: If a person takes a photo of a dog whistle, does it make a sound? Not to a human, but only if there is a dog close enough to be photographed. Then it would make a sound.
So the answer really should be, in my opinion: if a photo is taken in the woods it does not make a photo unless there is anything from an insect to a human being to be photographed. Oh, and if you remembered to put the CF card in."

I wanted to test a new lens the other day but was unable to as its not duck shooting season and I don't want to be fined for breaking the law :)

I find it funny how in my Grade 11 Physics text book, almost all of the examples in the light and optics unit feature a duck as the object. Apparently my physics teacher said it was because the author of the book really liked ducks. Go figure!

Amazing. See it works. The only duck you could find is at your feet, while every hoodie I have seen is like 500 feet away and dives every time I point the camera at it.

I think these are ducks- pic from this weekend at the Central Park Zoo.

Now that I've finally posted my first pic (and a duck!) on POTN, hopefully I'll get the hang of this photo-taking thing.
