I just got my 40D and yes, it's probably in the handbook/manual but I'll ask away anyway because I'm bored.

1. Why is there two on switches? From my first impression, when it's on the ON switch I can't control my aperture in M mode. After fiddling with it and glancing at the manual I noticed you have to switch to "_/". What is the ON for then?

2. How the heck do you turn on LiveView?

3. Who here uses sRAW and for what purpose?

4. On the rotary wheel for aperture control, does your "Set" button turn as you turn your dial?

Ok that's it for now, feel free to add your own questions!

1) exactly what you say. It's to disable the quick dial so you don't accidentally adjust EC or Aperture with your nose.

2) enable in custom function first, then press set while shooting.

3) don't use it - but it would be good for learning without taking up as much space, or if you only do stuff for the web (I mean, this is just a hobby for me - I only print out about 1% of my shots - so why have everything at max?) Personally, I would've preferred an 'mRAW' (5 MP) option - why didn't they include that? I guess seeing that sRAW is average 7MB, and RAW is 12MB, a 5 MP 'mRAW would be about 9MB - at that stage maybe you should just use full RAW.

4) yes.

Wow...mine hasn't come in yet (although Amazon tells me that the original projected deliver of 10/15 has moved up to next week), but i'm glad i read this. Probably would have wondered the same things.
