Tiffen told me to buy the (300-slr) anti twist plate for my canon 30d.
Quess what, it doesn't fit. Did they tell me to buy the wrong one, or do they just not make it. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Mike

If you're using a grip with the 30D, get the one for the 1D series camera. That's what I use for my 30D.

If you're not using a grip, then use the one specified here:

I am using it without the battery pack and the chart says to use the 300-slr.
I'm looking for someone who has this camera and uses the stroboframe pro/press-t bracket.
Thanks anyway

?? acording to Tiffin website http://www.tiffen.com …Brackets+and+Accessories& (external link) Pick one and it will give you a chart to match with your camera.

Have you tried turning the bracket around? I can't imagine the chart from Stroboframe being wrong since it's the same chart that's been around for a long time. Lots of people would have complained, otherwise.

not the bracket....have you tried turning the baseplate/antitwist plate around??

Yeah, that's what I meant. Don't know why I ended up typing bracket instead of plate.

The chart is wrong. It doesent fit on my camera either. Did you ever find a way for it not to slip? I emailed them and they said that you would need to modify the twist plate for it to fit a 30d. That doesent exactly seem compatible to me.

If what Tiffen recommends is not what fits (and you are in the USA), I would hold them to the terms of the Uniform Commerical Code, about Warranty of Fitness for Use, and get them to exchange the wrong item for something that does work (or refund the money)

Here is what a Tiffen Rep told me.
"We have tried to recommend ATP’s for cameras from what we already have listed. No new plates have been designed. Many people have had to slightly modify a recommended plate to fit better. In this case grinding off a small part will expose the switch."

and B&H said this,
"Tiffen told us that this anti twist plate would fit the 30D. When a manufacturer tell us something works, we generally trust them; we do not re-test every claim a manufacturer makes.

A few months ago, the Tiffen rep was here (and he will be here again on Thursday) and he said he was once using a router on a piece of wood. He bought some foam rubber or grip material from Home Depot to keep the wood from slipping while using the router. Then he cut a small piece of that gripping material and put it between the normal mounting plate that comes with the bracket and his camera. He said it works better than any anti twist plate he ever had. He just wishes Tiffen could re-package the same stuff and sell it too.

So I would recommend a trip to Home Depot (or Lowes) and ask a salesman near the routers about some material to keep the wood from slipping. "
