The key is a tripod, shutter release cable (or timer) low ISO, prefocus on a area, and most importantly... HAVE FUN!!!

Would you mind telling us a little about the picture? I love how the lights fade out towards the front (bottom). I guess you added quite a lot of vignetting to it?

Goota good things about and others, bad. I love this shot though. Was going for the real highlight of night life down at the Bch.

Way way overexposed so contrast is killer. Still turning into something I like and sold. This was my first set of pics sold.

tomdlgns- you should probably resize those last shots you posted to 800x800 (forum rules) so you don't get flamed and/or bring anyone with a slow connection to a standstill

chrisblaze- that's a damn fine shot you got there. where'd you take it?

can i get a full size of this pic? it would make a great desktop.

i tried to focus on the area that i was going to shoot, but it was too dark, when i looked through the viewfinder everything looked pretty good to me.

but that was my first attempt and a long exposure so i def. need tons of practice.

how do you guys get away with shooting traffic like that? the only way for me to get that type of shot is to be in the middle of traffic.

Bridges, sidewalks...w/e.

AS for resizing, use w/e. Imageshack will resize them but shooting in RAW you'll need to make them smaller first. fun little program is irfanview

i am not shooting in raw. i was using imageshack, but it was going to slow. i think i have photoshop at work, i will resize in that and put them back on my site.

i us ms paint when i use 2-4 MP cameras, but when i take these large images, ms paint just kills the quality. obviously i use ms paint because its quick, now that i have some better pics i will use a better program.

I actually use myspace when i sell items then delete later. Imageshack has been sucking lately. but it's worked for me today.

for resizing program and you're on XP, google windows powertoys and you'll find an image resizer that works by just right clicking on the photo and it appears in the pop-up menu.

for not getting your images overexposed, it's not one specific setting. using bulb keeps the shutter open for as long or short as you want and you have to judge how long you need (trial and error, then eventually experience). If you want to lengthen the shot as long as possible with the least amount of exposure, stop your lens down (large f-stop number) and turn your iso to 100. you could also add either a neutral density filter or a polarizer to make even less light enter the lens, and thus allow you to increase your exposure time.

There's no setting. The camera's built in light meter is more or less useless in low light. If your images are overexposed then that just means you have to shorten your exposure time. Personally, mine tend to be underexposed, since I'm impatient like that. :D

ya well thats what i thought, but look at the height on them???

I figured maybe this was a really long exposure, wherein the sun moved and it was captured, but the sun would streak across i imagine. I bet they are lights of some kind cuz it defies logic, unless this is on another plant...or photoshopping.

I think your monitor is a wee bit too dark.
There are clearly lampposts leading up to the 'suns'.
