Shallow DOF

Shooting macro, one usually tries to maximize DOF. I was curious about how shallow the DOF would be at f2.8 on my 100 macro at minimum focusing distance. Answer? Pretty dern shallow:

Yup, indeed limited DOF, although sometimes it's a very effective effect I've found. Good shot.

i've seen somewhere you can calculate the exact depth of field.
Now try adding some tubes, thats even more shallow

Try the MPE-65 at 5x at f2.8 hehehe. Now THAT's almost as shallow as a Hollywood star :P

isn't it something like... 0.005mm DOF? its crazy.

Certainly allows you to bring out one part of the detail
