Hi you all, I am new

I have read some of the postings and I was impressed with what was discussed, so I decided to register and joined this Forum.

I am in the process of gettng a 40 D. I have been very frustrating because Canon creates a big hype and they don't ship enugh cameras.

Well, I called Canon Corp. and wouldn't you know it within 5 minutes a store called to tell me that they were holding a body for me, is that incredible or what.

I was going to pick it up ( 3 hrs drive), but I just found out on line a 40 D body only with a US Warranty for only $650 from Express Cameras and Best Prices. I think they are the same company both websites look very similar. Reviews all are positive, of course, they could creat them as well so I'm suspecious of reviews.:) I called the store and released it

I am wondering if anybody here has any experience with these two outfits. I found something very strange they are both closed tomorrow on Sat but will be open on Sunday.

I also would like to get some suggestions. I already have 28-135 IS lens and was wondering if I could get some suggestions, budget is an issue and I shoot mostly landscape, architecture. Not into sports, people, animals.

I was looking at bundle including 28-80 and 75-300. However, if I could afford I'd rather get 70- 200.

I would explicitly stay away from Express Cameras. I have not dealt with them but go ahead and search on Google "Express Camera Review" and see all the negative experiences that people have had with them.

Just looked at their Reseller Ratings. 0.87 out of 10!!! They couldn't even score a whole point!

Resellerratings.com is a good source to check when you are not certain.

At half the retail price, though, you should have screamed "SCAM!" right away. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Thanks for the suggestion to ck them on, I was relying on the reviews that were listed on their site. Oh man, what a nightmare they all are the same and are using different DBA as well. No wonder it was too good to be true.

I am calling tomorrow the store that called me today and pay the MSRP rather than loosing $700. I am pincking it up tomorrow

A suspicious online retailer's reviews and testimonials on its own web site is usually fiction created by its staff to get you to bite.

Well, at least now you are more knowledgeable, and you did not have to go through purchasing nightmares to learn these lessons. Some unsuspecting customers are less fortunate.

Stick with the reputable dealers - a lot of the people that subscribe to this forum purchase their gear from the likes of B&H and Adorama. I've purchased stuff online from B&H Photo and shipped it to NZ without any issue.

It defies logic that some outfits can sell the same equipment for such absurd prices - there will always be a catch.

I found something very strange they are both closed tomorrow on Sat but will be open on Sunday.

Many camera businesses are owned and operated by Hassidic or Orthodox Jews and thus, they can't do business or take orders until after sundown on Saturdays.

B&H Photo currently has the following notice on their site:

We are not accepting orders at this time.
We resume full operations Saturday 8:15 PM EDT.

I understand them not working because of religious reasons, but you would think their websites would take the orders and they would be there waiting for them when they get back... I guess that would also cause a backlog if there is no one there filling the orders as they go.

Of course, now it makes sense I forgot about it. However, there was another question that I posted on my original posting and I think it got shuffle. Here is the question:

I also would like to get some suggestions. I already have 28-135 IS lens and was wondering if I could get some suggestions, budget is an issue and I shoot mostly landscape, architecture. Not into sports, people, animals.

I was looking at bundle including 28-80 and 75-300 but then it would be redundant (to a degree to what I already have). Granted the 28 -135 lens is not the sharpest. However, if I could afford I'd rather get 70- 200.

Keep the 28-135. Its a pretty good lens with a good focal range and with the IS, is good for low light shooting. And its alot sharper than the two lenses included in the bundle.

I shoot a lot of landscapes and most of them are at 18mm. I couldn't live with a minimum 28mm focal length on a 1.6 crop camera.

I don't do architecture, but seems to me a wide angle lens (possibly wider than 18) is a necessity.

That was supposed to be "wider than 18", not 1:cool:

The editing software turns 8 followed by ) as a smiley.
