I am thinking of upgrading to the 30D (have been for some time now). I was wondering how steep the learning curve is compared to my 350D.
Any thoughts/experiences with this upgrade would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

They layout is a bit different and there are a few extra controls and some of the things are in different places but from a picture taking perspective, it's not what I would call a learning curve but more of an adjustment period. Kind of like driving a rental car. It's all there in front of you but not in the same places as your own. Not sure why, but call me JJ.

Bigger difference going to a 1 series, I just tried that and went back to the XXD series, just to keep from having to learn two bodies, but shooting with a 1D is awesome. I ended up choosing to upgrade, and I must admit that I'm glad I did. I personally find the 40D to be quite a bit better than my 30D, and worlds better than my 300D.

It takes quite a bit longer when going between brands (Pentax K10D = ridiculous, I actually had to read the manual!). Don't let the fear of a "learning curve" deter you from buying a camera. DDan-you raise a good point. The 30D will have the same functions as my rebel----duh:o .I just want to be able to use it and not get frustrated. I've heard that the 5D has a learning curve. I know it's a ff camera and very different than mine or the 30D. I just wanted some reassurance that I'll be okay .I've mastered most everything on my rebel except my WB bracketing (I'm clueless and don't want to even attempt it), so I'm hoping that it will be a smooth transition I did notice that the 30D doesn't have a B&W option? Is this the case? Not that it's a huge deal, I convert pp most of the time anyway. Okay, I'm rambling now......... Thanks! It is in the Picture Styles options. Just select Monochrome, and make any other adjustments you may want.

I keep the rebel in my truck with the 50mm 1.4 mounted all of the time so I always have a camera if I need one. If someone breaks into my truck I don't want to lose the 30D and an L. My Gear
